Continuing their sustained march across our continent, feral pigs are now moving into New York. Along with feral cats and horses, these animals are highly destructive to our native wildlife and their habitats and pose a serious disease threat to humans and domestic animals. The only good thing about this escaped domesticated species is that it does not yet have a special interest group claiming that it “belongs here.” State governments need to take this threat seriously and begin control efforts immediately.
