The AAAS is looking for 15-20 scientists to volunteer at this year’s USA Science and Engineering Festival, which will be held in the DC Convention Center April 28-19, 2012. Volunteers will be speaking to local high school students in a Meet the Scientist/Engineer program during the festival’s Career Program on Sunday, April 29th. This program is a chance for scientists to talk with local high school students in an informal setting and answer questions about their discipline or field, research, education, career path, etc.

The event will last about an hour and begins at 3pm, so scientists are asked to arrive at 2:45 pm and to check in at the registration desk at the Career Pavilion, where they will receive a free festival T-shirt to identify them as a scientist. Participating scientists are encouraged to bring a prop (a cool object related to their work) to help spark discussion.

Interested members should contact Linda Cendes with their name, title, institution, email, phone number, scientific discipline or field, and any ideas they have for a prop object.
