When the Senate passed a continuing resolution September 22 to fund government operations until March 2013, it included an $800 million addition for the wildfire suppression budget. TWS and partners asked Congress and the Secretary of Agriculture to fully fund the FLAME Act after the Secretary transferred $400 million into the USDA Forest Service’s fire suppression budget from other programs. The transfers took money away from other necessary programs such as hazardous fuels reduction.
